American League Wild Card Standings

Since 2012, there are two Wild Card teams in each league. The two teams in each league play against each other in a one-game playoff and the winner advances to meet the top seed in the Division Series. Wild Card is the beginning of the playoffs.

So the importance of Wild Card is vast for some teams. After all, the winners of each league will advance to the top seed in their Division Series which will increase their chance in making it to the League Championship Series.

American League vs National League

Despite the fact that the American League was created after the establishment of the National League, American League teams have won more World Series titles. The most notable difference between the two leagues is that American League uses a Designated Hitter (DH) while every player in National League must bat and field for themselves.

With that being said, the American League can be more exciting and sporty for some while the National League is more enjoyable to watch for many.
